Services & Utilities
Hallock is a standard plan city governed by a five-member city
council. The council meets on the first Monday of each month at 7:00
p.m. in the City Hall. The council also governs the actions of the
Municipal Utilities. Hallock has its own natural gas utility along
with city sewer and water utilities. Hallock has a well-trained
28-man volunteer fire department with safe and well-maintained
equipment The Hallock Police Department consist of one officer. The
Kittson County Sheriff’s Department provides on-call service when
our officer is off duty.
City Water
Since 1980, Hallock has received its water supply from North Kittson
Rural Water System (NKRW). NKRW provides water from three large
wells located over a large aquifer near Lake Bronson Minnesota. The
water is delivered to Hallock in a 12 inch line. We have an 80,000
elevated tank and a 300,000 gallon ground-storage facility. Average
daily usage is 80,000 gallons.
Sewer Service
The City has a 30-acre sewage lagoon system consisting of two
primary and one secondary cell. The lagoon system is capable of
treating more than 300,000 gallons per day, well over our current
demand.

Natural
Gas System
The City owns its own natural gas utility. The utility works closely
with the Mn Office of Pipeline Safety to provide safe delivery of
our product. In recent years, we have been able to commit to short
and long-term purchases of gas allowing our rates to often-times be
well below the rates of larger publicly owned utilities.
